I have one that I use on my coffee table that was purchased on eBay from this seller and am very happy with it. I grabbed a random photo to use in the mockup. I suggest you search eBay for making a purchase.

I'd put a low bowl there. You don't need much decor because the table has enough interested by itself and you already have art hanging there. Start by filling in the scratches closest to the edge with wood stain pens and/or rubbing a shelled walnut into the grooves. Then you don't have to worry about the edges peeking out from whatever you place on top.

I LOTS of nicked up tables that I have used over the years next to the front door or as bedside tables:

- Woven tray on top (next to the door, throw our mail and dog leash in it)

- Silver tray on top - Etsy has tons

- Hard placement to cover the top - Pimpernel are good in many colors

- Cut out a piece of fake leather fabric to cover the top

No special care, vintage for the warmth factor & so very functional. I have hammered aluminum pieces …trays, bowls, serving pieces & some simply beautiful & decorative pieces. They are generally not very pricey, & so very unique.
